Although comedies tend to make more money than dramas, there’s a reason why actors continue to turn up for strange dramatic movies. That’s because acting in a great dramatic role is the ultimate prize for actors. Look at the winners of the Academy Award for Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress and Best Supporting Actor and you will see that the vast majority of award winning recipients have received accolades for their roles in dramas. Of course, great dramatic acting isn’t just limited to the boys. While it may not pay off to be a drama queen when you’re young, these drama queens have delighted audiences over the years. A 14 time Academy Award nominated actress and two time winner, meryl streep has amazed audiences with her ability to perfect numerous accents and for completely slipping into character.
