Kickboxing

Don’t put this of any longer – if you are unhappy with the way that you look and feel, now is the time to devote yourself to a healthy life.  Besides looking good, you will also feel great.  No more complaints about knowing where to start, keep reading and find out about one of the most popular exercise programs today!

One of the most fascinating things to happen in recent years is to see how many different exercise programs have emerged.  While people understand the importance of health and exercise, they often don’t like the atmosphere of health clubs and gyms.  For this reason, people are forsaking the exercise bike and are joining such flourishing exercise programs like kickboxing.

When you think of kickboxing, you may think of the Jean Claude Van Damme movie Bloodsport or think of people violently hitting each other in kickboxing competitions.  While kickboxing is a martial art and there are professional kickboxers who compete against each other, kickboxing has flourished recently as an exercise program.

For the most part, people partake in cardio kickboxing.  This is an aerobic form of kickboxing that generally does not require having to spa as a partner.  Kickboxing is a high impact exercise program that works out your entire body.  It combines elements of boxing with kicking techniques.  While you learn different striking methods in kickboxing, you generally find that you are doing these techniques in the air or against a punching bag.  There are a number of kickboxing styles and you can take these different styles.  Different styles of kickboxing include: Adithada kickboxing (Indian Kickboxing), Muay Thai (Thai Kickboxing), Pradal Serey (Khmer Kickboxing), Sanshou (Chinese Kickboxing), Lethwei (Burmese Kickboxing), Yaw-Yan (Filipino Kickboxing) and Savate (French Kickboxing).

It is important to note that kickboxing is a high impact sport that requires a lot of energy.  Don’t go into a kickboxing class with sky high expectations.  Kickboxing is a fantastic cardio exercise and will help you improve your muscle strength, flexibility, and balance.  Remember that you have to go at your own pace and you will excel at kickboxing only if you feel comfortable.

While it is highly recommended that people learn kickboxing from a licensed instructor, it is possible to practice kickboxing at home.  Some of the most common kickboxing techniques that you are able to practice include the side kick, front kick, and the roundhouse kick.  Besides the great physical benefits that kickboxing provides, kickboxing is also a great way to relieve stress.  It also helps you increase your confidence and can be used for self defense.

So what are you waiting for?  Exercise doesn’t have to be boring, as the success of kickboxing has shown.  If you are ready to improve your strength, get fit, look and feel great, then see what all of the fuss is all about and check out kickboxing programs in your area!
