Everyone experiences some sort of panic or anxiety in their lifetime, whether it be stress over an upcoming job interview or worrying about money, family, or work. However some people experience panic disorders on a daily basis and it can be constant. Most people suffering from panic disorders also experience health problems such as insomnia, muscle aches, and headaches.

Some symptoms of panic disorders include uncontrollable anxiety for over six months, restlessness, irritability, fatigue, diarrhea, being easily startled, sweating, chills, nausea, irritable bowel syndrome, and shortness of breath. Many people that suffer from these symptoms don’t know that they are also suffering from panic disorders.

There are different ways to treat panic disorders including medication. Doctors can prescribe prescription medication that can help with the chemical imbalance in the brain that is believed to cause panic attacks and other forms of depression.
It is also believed that some of the causes of panic disorders and general anxiety disorders include genes, the environment in which you live, and your daily stresses. If you live in an environment that is full of stresses, chances are you will develop a panic disorder until you get rid of the extra stress in your life. Stress is always going to be a part of life but it doesn’t have to rule your life.

If you do not want to take prescription medication for your panic attacks, your doctor may recommend going to therapy. There are three different types of therapy for panic disorders: psychodynamic therapy which helps a person look at his/her life to find and understand the emotional conflicts that may be causing their condition. Cognitive behavioral therapy which helps a person identify negative thought patterns and helps them to correct them with positive thoughts so that their anxiety level can be brought down. And Interpersonal therapy which helps people work through social and personal relationships which may be troubled or unhealthy. By working through these relationships it can dramatically reduce ones daily stress levels.

In addition to these two treatments your doctor may also recommend relaxation and coping techniques such as meditation. By practicing meditation you will train your body to relax and in turn eliminate some of the stresses in your life. It can be hard to deal with everyday life and the stress that comes along with it, for those with panic disorders it can be even harder. Some things may not be easy to let go such as a fight with a spouse or friend, or a disciplinary action at work and if you don’t learn to cope with these things you will keep experiencing anxiety.

Panic disorders can include obsessive compulsive disorder and mild to severe forms of depression. It is very important to get treated if you are experiencing any of the afore mentioned symptoms. It is possible to live a normal stress free life even if you are diagnosed with a panic related disorder. Talk to your doctor about the options that are available to you including medication, therapy, and relaxation techniques.
