Why a Pool?

Why not? Doesn’t everyone like swimming pools? If you’ve got the space and the money, why wouldn’t you get a pool? Yong people like pools, old people like pools; pools are great for families too! Not only are pools great for pool parties and exercise, they’re also a great way to increase your home’s market value. If you’re thinking of listing your home for sale, you should consider getting a pool as not just a home improvement project but an investment. There are a few things to look out for when buying a pool: does everyone living in your house know how to swim? Do those who don’t know how to swim have the sense not to go in the pool? You’ll also need to decide what kind of pool is best for the climate you live in. If you live in an icy wasteland for nine months of the year, like Canada, you might be better off getting an indoor pool that you can actually use. Indoor pools can be expensive because it usually requires an addition to your house. If you live someplace that’s warm for a good part of the year, you can have a pool outside without too much trouble. Imagine having to drain your pool every year when it gets cold. You also have to deal with pool damage from snow and ice and very cold temperatures. You’ll have to be especially careful if you have young children to see that they don’t fall in the pool or go swimming unsupervised. Children love swimming pools, especially for pool parties.

Above Ground Pools

For some, above ground pools are a good option. They’re usually a lot cheaper than in ground pools because they don’t require much dogging. Of course, you have to prepare the ground beneath your above ground pool before you install it o make sure your above ground pool will be stable and level. If you’re trying to decide what sort of pool to get, you should look into the benefits of both an above ground and an in ground pool. You’ll also have to consider how each kind of swimming pool will affect your home’s market value, In ground pools are generally more expensive than above ground pools, but they’ll also add more to your home’s market value if you ever choose to list your home for sale. There are a number of different kinds of above ground pools that come in many different styles and sizes. Some of the cheaper above ground pools are made of plastic and are inflated with a pump. This kind of inground pool is inexpensive and can be moved fairly easily but they do tend to be quite small. These inground pools are used more by children for playing in than for serious swimming.

In Ground Pools

While above ground pools are a little simpler, installing an inground pool is not a home improvement project to attempt on your own. Not only will you need a lot of skill and expertise to install an inground pool, but you’ll need a lot of expensive digging equipment for this home improvement project. You’ll also have to find a place to put all that dirt when you dig your inground swimming pool. This may not seem like a serious problem, but getting a truck to haul away a whole swimming pool-ful of dirt can be very expensive. If you can, try to keep the swimming pool dirt on your property by building something. You might like to make a hill next to your swimming pool with your swimming pool dirt. A major challenge for people living in the suburbs of Toronto is that the digging machines can’t access their back yards where they want a pool installed because the houses are so close together. In some cases, people will have cranes lift the machinery and pool frame into the back garden. If you decide to get a fiberglass pool, the frame of the pool is pre-fabricated and thrown into the hole to make your inground pool. In case you were wondering, these fiberglass pools are not worth pulling out of the ground to take to your new home, no matter how much you like it. Just get a new fiberglass pool at your new place.

Fiberglass Pools

Fiberglass pools are always a good option if you’re thinking of getting a pool. I would only be concerned about getting little pieces o fiberglass in my toes like you get from windsurfing boards. There are so many new things happening with pools these days. In the past decade, people have started using salt in their pools to keep it clean instead of using chlorine. Of course, salt is much more pleasant to swim in but this isn’t a new idea. People have been using saltwater swimming pools for years. The first time I swam in a saltwater swimming pool was at a hotel in Durban. Many hotels that are on beaches just let the ocean water run into their swimming pools. Of course, they filter the sea water before it reaches the pool so its not full of seaweed and jellyfish. Another alternative to chlorine pools is bromide. Of course, owning a pool brings some responsibility with it. You have to always check the levels of different chemicals in your pool. If your swimming pool has too much chlorine in it, it could be harmful to your health

In the end, the best way to choose a pool for your home is to choose the one that will add the most value to your home if you list your home for sale. The best option is probably the indoor inground swimming pool. If you build your swimming pool in a glass room, you can still suntan poolside in the summer.
