Exotic air travel is a type of vacation that a lot of people are looking to involve in their vacation plans, but there are many things to consider before going on such a vacation.  One of the things about exotic travel that many individuals are interested in is not just where to travel but how to make cheap travel realizable.  There are some Exotic Travel ideas that are perhaps too challenging for your average tourist.  What this article is hoping to accomplish to overview some of the basic points that anyone considering an exotic vacation might want to consider.

One thing to consider before traveling to an exotic location is to decide upon the criteria for your trip.  For example, are you concerned about potential language barriers?  In some exotic locations, English is an acceptable and workable language for your vacation.  However, it would be a mistake to assume that you will necessarily be able to get by in every country without the necessary language skills.  In the worst case scenarios you should be able to hire a translator in order to facilitate your travel itinerary.  It should be noted that if you do indeed hire a translator that this can increase the cost of your trip.  Expenses can be a major contributing factor to what can be a high level of expenditure on exotic vacations.  This is often to do with the type of travel and type of accommodations that you are hoping to experience.  Obviously, should you choose to stay in a student hostel as opposed to a five star hotel, that this will dramatically change the cost of your vacation.  Decide what level of experience you are looking for on your trip.  Is the trip that you are planning mainly intended to be a package type vacation on an enclosed resort, or are you looking to have a more immediate interaction with the local culture.  If the latter is the case, you will need to consider questions of security, particularly in some areas of certain countries.  Security concerns may make certain types of travel to certain countries potentially undesirable.  It is obviously out of the budget range of the average traveler to higher a security detachment in order for them to see set areas of a country.  As such, it is important to be realistic about your trip, your expectations of what you hope to see on such a trip and the expenses that you will incur on it.

There are a number of options on exotic travel that you may wish to consider and one of those options is an ecotourism vacation.  Ecotourism is not just an exciting way to experience exotic locations, but is also a type of tourism that is particularly attractive for those individuals who are conscious of the effects that tourism can have on local populations, environments and economies.  One of the main focuses of these types of vacations is the promotion of sustainable development in developing countries while at the same time taking the opportunity to learn about those countries, their social situations and their often unique and diverse wildlife.  Regular tourism can at times cause regrettable negative impacts upon the environment and cultures of peoples in exotic locations.  As a result, ecotourist destinations ensure that these negative impacts are minimize to as great a degree as possible given the individual situation.

One way in which ecotourism is able to mitigate the negative effects of traditional tourism enterprises in exotic locations is through the practices of sustainability.  This includes not only ensuring that the tourist destination is not harmed in terms of the ecological uniqueness and diversity that it offers.  In addition, proper ecotourist destinations ensure that there are also socio-economic benefits to the surrounding and unfortunately in many cases impoverished local population.  One of the difficulties with finding a proper ecotourist destination is that there is no worldwide legislated definition as to what ecotourism is exactly.  As a result of this definitional ambiguity there is an entire gradient of tourist destinations that range from conventional to ecotourist regardless of what they happen to call themselves.  It has also not been necessarily to the environmental movements’ credit that their own public relations successes have led to these surprising ambiguities.  What has been the net result is that the increased public awareness about sustainable development has created a demand for ecotourism, but this demand has in far too many cases been filled by the commercialization of fragile habitats and ecologies by traditional unsustainable tourist destinations masquerading as ecotourist destinations.  As such, the current problem is that there is the desire for sustainable development of tourist industries among the traveling populace, but that this demand is not being ethically met and is in many cases is not policed.

One example of a tourist destination is Indonesia.  Indonesia has mixture of a number of types of tourism as have been discussed thus far.  For example, Indonesia contains millions of acres of rainforests with a well preserved ecosystem due to the many islands that make up the Indonesian archipelago.  As with any country known for its natural beauty, you must be on guard if you are looking for an ecotourism vacation as there will obviously be variable offers presented to the interested traveler.  However, should ecotourism not necessarily be what you are looking for, Indonesia has a number of alternate destinations.  These include the large beach and island resorts, perhaps the most famous of which being Bali.  Bali, despite being a very popular tourist destination, particularly among Westerners, is also illustrative of some of the difficulties associated with exotic travel.  As mentioned earlier, security can be an issue when involved in exotic travel.  One of the more notorious terrorist bombings in a tourist resort occurred in Bali, killing many people.  What this illustrated was that whenever you travel to a foreign location that security can always be a concern no matter how safe the destination may appear to be.  In many respects this may part of the risk associated with an exotic travel location that makes it so desirable in the first place.
