A high fiber diet is a diet that emphasizes eating food that contains at least five grams of fiber per serving.  The benefit of going on the high fiber diet is that it lowers your body’s cholesterol level, prevents constipation, and helps you lose weight.  Proponents of the high fiber diet strongly feel that the diet will help reduce the risk of developing such medical conditions as: Crohn’s disease, colon cancer, diverticular disease, hemorrhoids, hypercholesterolemia, irritable bowel syndrome, and obesity.  Additionally, the high fiber diet will help promote healthy eating habits, as the meals in a high fiber diet tend to feel larger and will make you feel full for a longer period of time.
