Cabbage Soup Diet

When it comes to looking for diets, it’s always pretty interesting to see what you encounter.  One such diet is the Cabbage Soup Diet.  An interesting diet that first emerged in the 1980s, the Cabbage Soup Diet is often referred to its other names such as the sacred heart diet, TJ Miracle Soup Diet, and the military cabbage soup diet.

One of the biggest claims that the Cabbage Soup Diet makes is that it allows you lose up to 10 pounds in a single week.  However, it is important to note that the cabbage soup diet is not meant to be a long term dieting plan.  It claims to be a short term solution that is intended to help you lose some weight in a short period of time.  In some ways, the Cabbage Soup Diet is similar to a fast.

As you can imagine, the Cabbage Soup Diet prominently features cabbage soup.  It is a 7 day plan in which you are supposed to drink a low-calorie cabbage soup.  While previous versions of the cabbage soup recipe have been criticized for not having enough protein and being too high in protein, newer versions of the cabbage soup diet solves this problem.

A sample 7 day plan of the cabbage soup diet would look like this:

On Day 1, you will be able to eat only fruit (but not bananas) and cabbage soup.  For a beverage, you are able to drink cranberry juice, unsweetened teas, and water. 

On the second day, you won’t be able to eat fruit, but you are able to eat leafy green vegetables with your cabbage soup.  You can also eat a baked potato with butter for dinner. 

On Day 3, you are able to drink cabbage soup with fruit and vegetables.  However, you won’t be able to eat a baked potato again on this day. 

For the fourth day, you may feel a craving for some sweets.  As a result, you should eat as many as eight bananas and drink skim milk with your cabbage soup diet. 

On Day 5, you are able to incorporate either beef, chicken, or fish into your diet.   However, you can only choose one type of meat or fish.  Additionally, you should eat up to six tomatoes with your cabbage soup.

For the sixth day, you are able to eat as many beef and vegetables for the day with your cabbage soup.  However, you aren’t able to eat a baked potato.

On Day 7, it is recommended that you eat only your cabbage soup with brown rice and vegetables.  For a drink, unsweetened fruit juice is the key.

The Cabbage Soup Diet claims to help people lose up to 10 pounds in a single week.  It is intended to be followed for 7 days at a time.  If you are to go on the Cabbage Soup Diet a number of times, it is strongly advised that you take two weeks off between Cabbage Soup Diets.

While many users have shown that the Cabbage Soup Diet does help in losing weight quickly, many nutritionists are skeptical.  Health experts claim that the weight lost by using the Cabbage Soup Diet isn’t actually body fat but rather water.  Another side effect of the Cabbage Soup Diet can be dizziness and flatulence.  If you are feeling ill while on the Cabbage Soup Diet, you should stop and see your doctor.  The Cabbage Soup Diet is also only intended for adults.
