Hi,
We launched a new version of RingSurf. I am glad you emailed us so we can give you the new instructions. Please go to http://www.ringsurf.com/ring_admin.php and create a new account if you joined before April 1, 2008 in order to convert and manage your rings and websites that are members of rings. A new account must be created for all Ring Owners in order for them to manage their rings. Ring Members have to create a new account and convert their listings to the new system only if they want to update their existing listings or want to join more rings. Once you create your new account and login you will see instructions on how to convert your existing rings and websites that you manage to your new account. We have now implemented a universal login which allows you to use one login to manage all of your rings and websites that are members of rings. Thus, please convert all your sites and rings using the same login. There is no need to create more than one account on the new Ringsurf system. We have made RingSurf easier for Ring Owners, Ring Members, and Ring visitors. Now when you visit a ring on RingSurf, right at the top is a red link to the RingSurf viewer. Also you can get to the viewer by clicking any of the members listed on the ring. Once in the RingSurf viewer you can easily navigate through all the member sites of the ring by using the navigation in the top header of the RingSurf Viewer. Ring owners no longer have to provide complicated navigation code for members to place on their sites because of the new RingSurf viewer. When members signup or login they are now provided simplified code that they can place on their website. Once they have the proper code on their site and click activate their listing will show up in the Ring owners queue to be approved. Once its approved (moved to members list) the new listing will show up in the ring. Please Note: Until the potential new member of a ring places the proper code on their site and activate it the site will not show up in the Ring owners queue. This is to minimize spam to the Ring Owners. Also, ring owners no longer have to check member sites to make sure they have proper RingSurf member code on their site. RingSurf checks for proper code at time of signup and on a random frequent schedule. If a member removed the code from their site or if their site is not available to check then they will be removed and notified my email to put the code back on their site and reactivate their listing. At this point it will go back to the Ring Owner queue to move it back to members. We recommend ring owners to create a ring banner that their members will place on their website. If there is know banner then default code will be provided. Ring owners can upload banners by logging into their ring and uploading their banner. Members will place this code on their websites. When members join a ring the html code for that ring will be provided to them to place on their website. Existing members who have the old ring navigation code on their site will not have to change their code on their site. All the old ring navigation links( Prev , Next, Random, Etc) will take you to the appropriate ring page on RingSurf and from there the visitor can click the RingSurf Viewer link which will allow them to navigate through the members of the ring. Note to Ring Owners: After you convert your ring you also will have to convert any websites that you manage that are part of your ring or other rings. Please feel free to ask us any questions or to give any suggestions. We thank you for contacting us. |
