theoreticgal All thing fibre. Quilting, knitting, sewing, smocking and food with a little life thrown in for good measure.
I'm a sustainability campaigner 'think global act local', foodie, costume & quilt creator, cyclist and choral singer. I work in eBiz and am a Celebrant. I'm linked into social networks of Twitter (ozquilter), blogs, FB & Linkedin. Eclectic works for me.
I am a member of Southern Cross Quilters, aka as SCQuilters, I make quilts for family and friend's, usually for a special occasion such as an '0' birthday, or indeed a birth.
I am a member of the Society for Creative Anachronistic, aka as the SCA. I enjoy making clothing of a particular time period, my favorite at the moment is the Italian Renaissance, but I have made garb for most periods in the SCA time frame, that's 650 to 1650 AD. To make and then wear a gown in the style of a particular period is like being in a time machine, I can get a feel for how a woman of that time felt and created, its extremely satisfying.
I also enjoy dress-ups of any kind and I enjoy retro dressing and love second hand shops and eBay as they provide scope for my eclectic dress sense.
I'm also interested in Steampunk costuming as it gives a chance for more creative play with an outfit.
I make art quilts with textile collage and lots of embellishments. It seems that everywhere I look there is a quilt calling out to me. Sometimes, just for fun, I try to make a regular quilt but they never seem to turn out like regular quilts do.
