The Watts and Hays Letters
The John S. Watts and Boone Hays families corresponded between Missouri and California from 1849-1872. The online letters describe the personal lives of the writers, most notably the Upton Hays family\'s experiences ducommunity the Civil War in Missouri. To be added to the site is the 1872 Diary of Matthew Berry Yocum\'s train journey to California and letters from 1866 to the early 1900\'s. There are historical notes,extensive footnotes and photographs.

This site is dedicated to solving the mystery of where John Benham, a puritan founder of New Haven, came from in England in 1634.

A place for us to hang our hatt and meet other Hattaways both past and present.
