Escaflowne The year is in the 1990s, and this girl named Hitomi likes this guy named Amano Senpai (Teacher Senpai). So she asks him if he would give her her first kiss if she could break 13 seconds in the 100-meter dash. He agrees. She asks him to time her with a pendant that sways fully each second. As she is running, (it is now night time), Van Fanel materializes in front of her and pushes her aside. Talking in a tongue that nobody can understand but Hitomi, he says, "It is coming too..."- then a dragon comes. After a long fight with the dragon, Hitomi sees the future- that the dragon will kill Van. She warns him, but when he doesn't thank her she gets upset and all of a sudden they dematerialize and go to an invisible world.
It has been around seven years since the end of the Boo Saga on Dragon Ball Z, Goku is now training with Uub, Vegeta and Bulma are still living together with their children, Trunks and Bra. Trunks is now the head of the Hoi Poi Capsul Corporation (Capsule Corp.), and Goku's grandchild, Pan, is now 14 years old. The series begins when with Emperor Pilaf ( Emperor of what?) and his laceys using the Dragon Balls to wish for world dominance again (see the very first saga of Dragon Ball). Luckily for us, he accidentally wishes Goku back to his younger self. Unfortunately, Pilaf was using the black star Dragon Balls (suspected to be created by Piccolo Diamoh). If the black star Dragon Balls are not reunited in one year the earth explodes. Getting even worse, instead of spreading around the world like normal Dragon Balls, the black star Dragon Balls spread around the galaxy. It is decided that Goku and Trunks would then go around the galaxy searching for them. Unfortunately, Pan becomes a stowaway.
Slam Dunk is not just about basketball (as its title obviously implies). It is also a funny and inspicommunity look into the development of a character, as he learns and matures through adolescence. This is the story of Hanamichi Sakuragi, a freshman high school student in Shohoku High, who has the dubious honor of having been rejected by fifty (that's 50!) girls he courted in his junior high years. Hanamichi, being a proud one, hated having such a dismal "batting average" with girls. His last rejection was from a girl who chose a basketball player over him. So, any mention (or even hint) of the word "basketball" from his classmates gets them a lump on the head courtesy of a Hanamichi head-butt!
