Many people, both Catholic and non-Catholic, have many preconceived notions about the "Church of Rome".

(Matthew 16:15-19) There is only One God, God has only one Son, Christ established only one church. "Where there is Peter, there is the Church!" (St. Ambrose Bishop of Milan from 374 to 397 AD).
