An Ode to Coffee and Cigarettes
Sipping on coffee, and a cigarette--
A stop and smell the roses in a clove break,
And good fortune I haven’t met yet
In my cup after the last drop I take.
Mug in my left hand, clove in the right,
And me in the middle with both hands singing
A sweet song of selah. Rest. Soul, be quiet
In this coffee break may Peace be clinging
Like aftertaste lingecommunity, lazily, long
On my lips. And may it drip, drop, down
Adding my own verse, and humming along:
“Peace on my breath.” So breathe. “My cares are drowned.”
Drowned like I am of the cup I have drained
Which was full and has filled me as Peace ordained.
