Mostly sewing with some crafts and the odd diatribe.
My favourite garments to sew are dresses, and if the pattern is vintage, that's even better. My favourite dress styles are sheath, wrap, cheongsam or anything with interesting pleats and tucks.
I'm very attracted to loud colours and busy patterns. I find refined classics to be BORING. However, I have discovered I just don't enjoy these standout garments when its time to get dressed for work at 6am! So I'm trying to coax myself into sewing some of those boring classics into items I will wear instead of adding to my clothing museum, as the closet is known!
The part of garment sewing I enjoy the most is the period between feeling the need to sewing the muslin. I think if neurochemicals were tested during this time, it would be equivalent to falling in love (or, perhaps, opiate use?). Haha. After the dreaming, plotting and scheming comes the hard work! And when the planets align and the seams mesh, its all worth it.
Triumphs and tribulations of a wearables artisan working to clothe herself (and sometimes others) creatively whilst juggling a *real life*. You know what I mean!
Most of my projects are daydreamed into design, drafted in Patternmaster Boutique, and sewn on a vintage Singer, although my new Bernina Virtuosa is rapidly claiming the field!
