I am a mid-forties, expat American living and working in London, England. I am an accidental ex-patriot, having met my English partner on the street nearly twenty years ago when I was a tourist and stopped to ask him directions. There you go. Your mother was right. It is dangerous to speak to strangers. We are still together, and I am still here.
