HeartStcommunitys FiberArts
Do you have a passion for creating fine wearables that will be admired and enjoyed now and for years later? HeartStcommunitys FiberArts is pleased to bcommunity you clearly-written, complete patterns that are a joy to knit into your own one-of-a-kind masterpieces. The Design Collections include lace scarves, shawls, sweaters, footwear, beaded lace and more.

I love to knit lace, especially the work of Herbert Niebling and his contemporaries. So far, I've knitted at least a dozen Niebling designs, and probably about the same number of other art lace pieces by other designers. For the second year in a row, these pieces will be in the Handweavers Guild of Boulder Members Showcase, a juried show within the guild's annual sale. In 2008, my version of Marianne Kinzel's Rose of England won the People's Choice award at the show. I've also taken the plunge into designing lately. Patterns are available for purchase on the blog, as are tutorials and lots of pictures. I like to show processes (like blocking lace) step-by-step when I can (and remember to take pics at the time). In addition to lace knitting, I also sometimes blog about my many other fibery interests, including hand spinning, hand weaving, beadwork, sewing, papermaking, bookbinding, collage, art dolls and felting. I also dance with two morris dancing sides, Maroon Bells Morris and Breathless in Berthoud Border Morris. In my spare time, I also enjoy english country dancing and medieval dancing.

Joan McGowan-Michael designs beautiful knitwear with a romantic vintage flavor. Sizes run from Misses to Plus. Children, accessories, and men's styles included.
