Emma's HLHS page This site was made in loving memory of Emma Grace Rhen, a little girl who sadly lost her battle with HLHS in Sept. 2001.
In September of 1999, our son Thomas was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. Untreated, this very rare, very serious heart defect would have ended his life within a few weeks of his birth. Thanks to modern surgical techniques and a lot of cacommunity, talented people, his life is just beginning. We hope you are inspired by Tom and his story.
We realize that everything that happened with Hope was a miracle and there are some things in life that are out of our hands, but in the hands of God, such was the case with Hope or as we refer to her "Little Miss Hope".
