Sugar Stars, Baby!
I've realized I have way too much fabric just sitting around, waiting patiently for me to finally let it serve its purpose in the world--before it gets squished by my newest purchases from JoAnn's or wherever. Maybe it's the colors I have to work with (LOTS of dark blue!) that aren't "fun" colors for me anymore--if I can work orange and hot pink into a quilt, I feel it's complete; add purple and lime green, it's downright magical! :) My goal is to work through my stash, even the "precious" fabrics I keep saving for something else. (Well, except the panel and coordinating print I have saved up for any future sons. Would I be jinxing myself if I do that? ) To add to my monster stash of yardage--there's the scrap pile! Sometimes I like the scrap pile more, but the ironing! the cutting! the frustration of only having 6" of a gold print you need 8" of! did I mention the ironing and cutting? I'm afraid of counting up my UFOs cluttering up drawers--at least they're separated from each other. That's good, right?

Quilting from needle turned applique to Improv quilts. Currently learning how to dye and paint fabric which will be incorporated into my quilts and craft projects. I am a member of a Quilting Guild in my area and also help organize a Quilt History Study Group. Originally I'm from Long Island, New York and am now living in beautiful Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. I am not from a Quilting Family so I took my first lesson when I moved here - which was needle turned applique, which I love. There is plenty of inspiration here in Lancaster County between the Amish and Mennonite quilts. Also from the landscape which is so different from Long Island where you are surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean. Here, there are wonderful hills and valleys - beautiful scenic views and of course there is water - the Susquehanna River. Discovering Improv quilts was such a delight for me. I love piecing intuitively because You never know what your imagination will come up with. I am a fan of Nancy Crow - who "is a pioneer of the modern art quilt movement."
