Babbette's Book Reviews This is blog, updated at least once a week. The primary purpose is for book reviews, but I also include thoughts and theories on books and reading. Often I'm as interested in why people choose the books they do to read as what they think of them once they are done. Personally, I read mostly contemporary fiction, but I do try to stretch myself and read fiction that is not purely mindless. I leave that for the books on tape that I listen to - which I will also occasionally review.
I'm a former English teacher who has had a life-time hobby of reading and discussing books. This blog is an extension of that love. I also include a few highlights from other areas of my life. I love to cook, when I have the time, and especially entertain. My husband and I love eating out and so I'll occasionally - when warranted - include a restaurant review. My husband is a photographer, and this is also a hobby of mine, so you'll see mentions of photography as well. And, my family and my four-legged child, Annie.
My blog is a book review blog dedicated to the love of fiction. I read and post about at least a book a week. I am using a grade scale to show whether or not I like the book, making it easy for the blog reader to understand. I am complying with the new FTA rules for bloggers and each book I review I list at the bottom where I purchased the book from. I also post about decorating with books (like new and different ways to design bookshelves), books that have been made into movies, author events, limited edition releases, hot topics in book news (like author awards, book controversies), etc. I love to read fiction of any kind. I think people would come to my site to find book reviews, current book news, new and trendy things to do with their books and hopefully, eventually a forum to talk to other readers with similar interests. When not reading, I am working hard for my money, exploring the great city of San Francisco, and harassing my boyfriend's cat. :) I would love to be a part of your blog ring!
The is a site devoted to books: book chats, book reviews, book challenges, and book memes. This blog will give me a chance to present my outlook on my year in reading "through my reading glasses." If we don't agree, we can share our thoughts to present two sides of the same coin. My husband and currently live in a condo in Columbia, Maryland run by our two dogs. Our kids are grown and married with children and like a good grandma I spoil those children rotten. Thankfully, we all share a love of books. We are developing the tradition of spending time at Barnes and Noble or the public library whenever we are able to be together. Our tastes are varied but even the grandchildren listen attentively when the grownups have their book discussions and they enthusiastically share their reviews of what they are reading. Through blogging I have developed a bad case of challenge-itis. The more the merrier and I experience a rush of satisfaction when I can tick off a title from my list.
