Unschooling Ruminations
Cassi is a mom and former educator who has come to the conclusion that unschooling is the best way forward for her son and future children. Though her son Wesley is still "pre-school age," she considers him an unschooler and discusses her philosophies, experiences, and research on her blog unschoolingblog.com. She is passionate about being a mom and providing a life of freedom for her children. After receiving her Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, and then teaching in high school, Cassi thought that there must be a better way for children to learn organically. Her first stop was democratic or free school, as exemplified by A.S. Neill's Summerhill in Suffolk, England. If a school must exist, then this is the best kind. In fact, for parents who want to umschool, but can't afford to have one parent at home, a democratic or free school would be the best alternative. As she was researching this type of schooling, Cassi stumbled upon the Unschooling principles and hasn't looked back since. She and her husband are excited to be able to offer their children the benefits of unschooling.

What can I say,I'm just a square peg in a round hole. This blog is dedicated to me,myself, and I and anyone else out there who I hope through my daily writing might find something on here that will encourage you through your own struggles. I'm yet seeking to find myself, wanting to grow spiritually and attempting to find serentity in a busy, pop culture infested city.Where its a trial to say the least to be a God loving,free-spirited,open minded, young woman with traditional values. I'm a 25yr old Christian Unschooling mom to four energizer bunnies still trying to find the right fit for all we do stand for.Wife to the complete flip-side of who I am and thats why at times we clash but balance eachother O'so well. I don't pretend to live in a picture perfect world nor am I an expert on anything, but the love and hope I have for my husband, children and life.Join me as I venture out into the unknown of my daily struggles and lets see if we can walk together through this crazy ever changing life.

We were unschoolers from the beginning and didn't know it... it took three months of my son being in kindergarten for us to figure that out. Every day, I wake up thankful for the choice to keep my kids at home, to watch them stay happy, to see their love of life intact. We wake up slowly, head into the kitchen, and gather around our long oak table. Our days aren't perfect blogginess all of the time, but there are always moments of gratitude, moments of beauty, moments of grace. We spend lots of time in that kitchen, lots of time in the garden, lots of time on the trails surrounding our Marin County house. My boys are nature sponges- finding salamanders, climbing trees, fishing, camping, usually found outside and dirty. I'm a newly obsessed knitter, and a lover of all things domestic. Puttering in the kitchen is my idea of fun. Dadda runs a bar in San Francisco, and our family loves the city life, as well. We love it all, and we're so lucky to have discovered a supportive local community, as well as a supportive online one. I invite you to take a peek into our daily lives, and I'm eager to take a peek into yours!
