My Garden World Blog My Garden World Blog is a gardening blog that is directed toward gardening enthusiast of all kinds. Subject matter ranges from landscape plantings, flower gardens, vegetable gardening, and gardening in general.
Marvin White a/k/a Poppy is the administrator of My Garden World Blog. Poppy makes regular posts that address gardener's interests or concerns.
Poppy was raised on a farm in Louisiana. The family farm provided a livelyhood for a family of nine children. Produce from the farm and milk from the dairy was necessary for survival.
Experience on the farm nurtured Poppy's keen understanding and a love of nature. These two attributes have followed him ever since.
Poppy has moved from city to city during his adult life. At each place called home, he has always managed to landscape and garden.
Now retired, Poppy devotes his time to gardening and helping others with their gardening needs. My Garden World Blog was created as a result of proding from friends and neighbors to share his knowledge with others.

It's only a small garden but it is still a lot of work. I have two compost bins and they are nearly always full. Where does all that stuff come from?
I have ideas about how I want my garden to look and try to make my ideas work. Sometimes the results look the way I had them pictured in my mind, sometimes they don't.
I am by no means an expert gardener and most of the time I just fumble along trying things out as I go.
I subscribe to a gardening magazine and pick up hints and tips from there.
When I first moved into my house the previous owner had filled the front garden with gravel so all that had to be removed before we could even think about planning a garden.
The back garden had been recently turfed but I don't think the ground had been properly prepared and now thanks to the poor preparation, poor drainage and a mad dog, the lawn is in a very sorry state. That is a project to be tackled at some point in the future, for now I'm just concentrating on the flowers.
