Katiemac's Tatting Too My tatting journey. It took me so long to learn how to tat - literally decades! Once I finally flipped the stitch, I just kept tatting, & tatting & tatting... Well, you know how that is having a tatting monkey on your back. When I'm not tatting, I'm thinking about it, or looking for a new pattern, thread or shuttle, or I'm dreaming tatting. I'm thinking blogging about tatting just goes with the rest. I went to my first lace guild meeting with many finished projects. I had envied the tatters for 5 looooooooooooooong years! They shared my enthusiasm, offered tips & praise, & encouraged me. Now, every month they're all waiting to see what new tatted piece I have to show them. Their parting words are always, "Keep on tatting!" Now, I get to demo tatting, & teach others. People always want to buy my tatting, so I think I should perfect my end-hiding so I can sell some of my tatted jewelry. That wasn't my intent, but it'll help pay for all this thread I'm beginning to amass!! LOL! Off to tat now!
My blog on my adventures and mis-adventures in shuttle tatting. I have projects ranging from the traditional doilys to 3D items, and eventually I plan to do jewelry as well.
Most of the works are made from patterns from online designers.
I have a Monthly Project, where I do one specific project and the progress of the work is posted with picture stage progressions.
I also do 'reverse-engineering' tatting, where I tat a project based off someone else's work. This is to help develop my own skills in designing, credit to the original designer always posted as well as links to their site if available. Usually these are from photograph only or 'eye candy' or from a shape or design found elsewhere and I try my hand at making a tatting representation of it.
Because a picture is worth a thousand words, my page is photo heavy.
I will be adding Ankars style of tatting to my page later in the year. Since this style is new to me I will have to learn it, but once learned, I plan on designing items with it and will make those patterns available.
