Primal Home in the City An Australian family advocating sustainable living, attachment parenting, homebirth, natural learning, feminism, and social justice.
When many people hear the word "primal" it conjures up caveman-esque images - animalistic, dirty, uncivilised, uneducated. But that's not me. I am an educated middle-class Australian living in the suburbs of a major city and I own a television, a laptop, a mobile phone, and a car. Most people view me as Normal. So why have I chosen "primal" as a descriptor for my home? This is what the Dictionary defines it as,
pri·mal
adj.
1. Being first in time; original; primeval.
2. Of first importance; primary.
This is a blog about getting back to what is important in life. It's about reconnecting with the fundamental needs of the human animal. It's about homebirth, breastfeeding, co-sleeping, babywearing, attachment parenting, home learning, sustainable living, feminism, social justice, and activism. It's about developing secure, healthy attachments with our children; fostering wellness instead of curing sickness; and living an aware life.
Wife to the sexiest pirate in the world. Mother of 3 (2 boys, 1 girl who wishes she was a boy). Follower of Jesus. Founder and Executive Director of Artsy Mamas, a non-profit organization. Lover of the B-52's, rainbows, being healthy, writing/blogging, raw and local foods, everything 80's, peacocks, helping my community, hot tea, ridiculous chocolate, yoga, neon colors and sit-coms. Learning to trust the unschool process and my Lord. Conquering postpartum anxiety. Squeezing in trips to the bathroom and handmade meals. Listening hard for God's voice among all of the chaos.
