Sunnydaytodaymama Appreciating life as a mother and learning every day. I am blessed to be mothering a beautiful little soul born after ivf.
.
We are a family enjoying Steiner (Waldorf) education in Australia, exploring our big, wide beautiful land, enjoying friendships and family, raising backyard hens, and celebrating the seasons. This is how we find inspiration - the joy of being, growing, imagining, creating, working, playing...while we are not homeschooling, we have lots in common with our homeschooling friends.
I am homeschooling mother to three amazing children and wife to one incredible man. We homeschool to escape the hustle and bustle that goes along with school as well as the mainstream Go Go Go lifestyle that many Americans choose to live. We began questioning our ways several years back and brought our kids home to learn immediately. Kids are young for such a short time and it never felt good to send them off. We love what our lifestyle provides for our family. It certainly has its ups and downs…but no matter how tough it gets, it always feels good to have the kids home.
With only a bit of college and no decent education to speak of (graduated from public mainstream school), I never ever thought I could teach my kids. What I have grown to learn is that homeschooling is a lot about nurturing spirits and little about useless facts taught in school. Don’t get me wrong…we work…and our kids learn…but they are allowed to do it in their own learning style (which is different for each of them, of course!). We use a Waldorf approach in our homeschooling which basically provides our children with a holistic, well rounded, open minded education. Our days are full of hands on learning with plenty of time for play and fun. Who needs a college degree to listen to their kids…? Must be all of my street smarts!
So many kids are stressed out these days with the demanding schedules that they are required to adhere to. It is my goal to provide a loving and stress free environment for my children to learn in so they grow to be happy adults that are not tainted by the world we live in…but instead embrace it….
Soulful Education This community offers the opportunity to develop a community of like-minded homeschoolers who believe education is not about what a child can do but what they need ... not about proving their capabilities but touching their souls.
