Desertmountainbear, creations from the desert My name is Joanne Livingston,I work under the name Desertmountainbear creating one of a kind teddy bears. Working mostly with mohair each bear is designed and created individually from start to completion by me using advanced technique, The faces are all needlefelted, noses are felted then waxed. Each bear has detailed leather pawpads, and epoxy claws.
I live in the southwestern part of the United States in Phoenix Arizona. It is an area of great beauty, and an interesting history, cowboys, gun fights,and gold mining. Many of the bears are desert or western themed. All but two are named after towns in Arizona.
The purpose of the blog is share information on the bears, and the techniques used to create them. My hope is that collectors who are interested will see the work that goes into each bear. That it will give inspiration and information to the anyone who wants to know more about the techniques shown. I would also like to share some of the love I have for the Sonoran desert, my constant source of inspiration.
