I started my blog in the summer of 2008 when I was in the crunch time of planning and preparing for my son's Bar Mitzvah, which was in September. He was getting a little high maintenance on me, becoming a "Bar Mitzvahzilla," much like the Bridezillas who torment their family members with their exhaustive demands for their celebrations. Because of the insanity of the situation, because I was planning it largely alone, and because I'm a writer, I needed to write about it, so I started the blog.
When the Bar Mitzvah was over, I thought my blog was too. It came as a surprise to me when I found that I wasn't quite done writing. My son - Bar Mitzvahzilla - turns out to be a rich source of material for me to blog about. My Daughter, the future Bat Mitzvahzilla, is in here too, along with my six sisters, my Holocaust Survivor mother, and my Nebraska-raised Stepfather. As a Skokie transplant raising Jewish kids in Arizona and dealing with the teen years and the pre-teen years at once, I find there's always something to write about.
