Native Weaver
Navajo and traditional tapestry weaving, everything from the fleece to the finished piece.

The Glenna Harris Weavers Guild strives to encourage its members to explore all aspects of hand weaving and spinning and to pass on the love of our craft with public demonstrations and classes.

This is a blog follwing the adventures of a young tapestry weaver in the world of modern tapestry. Posts include current projects, rants, raves "why tapestry is so hip and cool", and any random tapestry related adventures that come my way. I was born and raised in Silicon Valley where time moves fast and innovation is key. I unconsciously rejected and rebelled against the mainstream mindset of my high tech home. In a world literally based on black and white processes, I chose to explore abstract forms in vivid colors. I chose to study art. I chose perhaps the most ancient and time-consuming media; tapestry weaving. Although sometimes I think it chose me. Tapestry found me through a series of serendipitous events a few years ago. Its vibrant colors, enticing texture, and the process in which it is created captivated me. It is physically taxing, and repetitive. Open a shed, pass a color, change shed, and pass another color. The repetition has a certain rhythm to it. . It is also an architectural challenge. Pass by pass, a structure forms. The weaver pieces together a puzzle with no certain outcome.
