A page dedicated to Alzheimer's Awareness. It details my personal experiences with disease, imparts some important information about it, provides links to other helpful sites, and gives Alzheimer's Respite Caregivers some tips on caregiving those with dementia.

I am a Speech/Language Pathologist with 25 years' experience in a variety of settings including the public schools, early childhood education, facilities for the severely developmentally disabled, hospitals, and home health care. For the last 5 years, I have worked in numerous long-term care facilties in four states helping to establish, organize, and improve programs for residents with dementia. I am currently employed in two facilities in Ohio, and continuing to expand and enhance my education in the area, specializing in non-verbal communication in end-stage dementia. Frequently, I find myself in the position of providing information and support to those diagnosed with dementia, their caregivers, and other professionals. It is my hope to provide more of the same here, as well as to expand my own understanding. This will be done through informative articles, reviews, and opinions. (Other features will be added over time.) Comments and discussion are welcome, as well as recommendations regarding content and site construction.
