They sought to protect, disguise and preserve the old pagan religion, and in particular the idea of reincarnation, at a time when a person could be burnt at the stake for such heresy. This site includes Modern English translations of over thirty entertaining and I hope fascinating tales and Romances that are found in Middle English manuscripts of the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries.
