Tabmade A blog about my art and craft and the journey in making it my main source of income via my shop on Etsy. Also, the art and craft of others I enjoy, and daily life in between.
My name is Joanne Livingston and I work under the name Desertmountainbear making one of a kind bears. I work mostly in mohair with designs that I create myself. I use needle felting on muzzles and eyes. The bears noses are waxed. I use leather to create detailed pawpads. I spend lots of time on small details making sure each bear is a unique individual.
I live in the Sonoran Desert which is in the southwestern part of the United States. It is a beautiful living desert with diverse plant , and animal life. It is the only place in the world that the majestic saguro cactus grows. I draw much of my inspiration from this place, and many of my bears are desert or western themed. All but a couple of the bears are named after towns out here in Arizona.
The blog is for the bears, the needlefeling, the paw and claw making, the "bear essentials" Techniques are shown and described in detail. Also plenty of pictures and history of the Sonoran Desert, the place where the bears come to life.
On chainmaille, wire wrapping, jewelry making, crafting, Etsy, politics when I can't resist, blogging, and a Tennessee state of mind.
