I have a lot of different things on my site, My pride and joy are my birds. They are so much company for this old lady.
My aim to provide a place to meet other birders to get out and pursue this great hobby with others helping each other with a mutual goal to expand the great past time and to increase the awareness of people who are less able to go birding by virtue of disability of circumstance.
I will endeavour to provide support and advocacy to ALL and not to be put off by others and increase this awareness.
Promote professionalism and courtesy to ALL not to INTIMIDATE others.
The promotion of disability rights are the most important aspect of the work but, as myself, I was 'able-bodied' until an unfortunate accident and have worked within Disability Employment and Placement for many years with a few of the Major companies. So understand totally the boundaries that employers put in the way of the disabled.
I am to promote, albeit, a small part of the lives of people with disabilities but hopefully a wider part of society and try to integrate ALL
I know the Disability Discrimination Act almost word for word and am able to help interpret this for any that want help. I have a degree in Law so understand the intricacies of the 'Word' of the Law
If I cannot help I have several friends and could email them for their advice.
So we are here to help. We want this to be a welcoming space on the 'interweb' no bitching or 'back biting'
We will not remove members except at the request of the member or when a member is being rude, nasty or after being reported for such and that it is investigated thoroughly. It is in the interest of all to open and frank in discussions without being discourteous or rude.
After all it is all about Birding.
