The Printed Page
Everything books in my world

Swashbuckling romantics' reviews of the literary, the not-so-literary, the great fun, and the truly awful.

My name is Amy Sisson, and I'm a writer, book reviewer, and librarian. Currently I review for VOYA (Voice of Youth Advocate), which is a library journal aimed at young adult librarians; Magill Book Reviews; and Magill's Literary Annual. Those books are assigned to me, although I occasionally do have some say in what I get. But like all reviewers, I also receive review copies of many titles that for various reasons I can't review for my "official" gigs. I also read a lot of older books that aren't appropriate for current review publications. So. This blog is a place to put those "other" reviews. The reviews I do for VOYA and Magill's are essentially work-for-hire, so they cannot be reproduced here. Nor can I review the same book for more than one publication. The only exception is that I'm also part of the LibraryThing Early Reviewers program, and I'm free to post the text of my LibraryThing reviews on my own blog or anywhere else I like. Primarily I read science fiction, fantasy, young adult (SF, fantasy, and mainstream), and vintage young adult (girls' career novels and college fiction). Oh, and picture books! So you'll definitely see a mix here. I hope you'll enjoy it.
