Fiber artist, surface designer, lover of fabric and thread, SAQA

Ellenina Gaston is a fiber and mixed media artist living in Southern California. She is currently working on her BFA in Printmaking. This site includes a sample collection of her work and illustrates the variety of materials and media she uses in her art. Ellenina likes to explore the symbiotic meeting of elements such as fiber and paint, thread and metal. It is a constant search for the point where mixed media melds into objects that transcend traditional ideas of quilting, basketry, and fine art or craft. She often turn to the tradition of painting, drawing and printmaking as a way to develop her ideas. My use of color is usually vibrant and bold. She finds that the patterns and colors in the world around her provide a wealth of ideas for expression. The objects she creates reflect the world as she experiences it - alive and vibrant with an ever changing juxtaposition between the natural and the manmade. Her artwork is a vehicle for the viewer to see the world through her eyes. Media used includes: fabric, fiber, paper, metal, pencil, paint, ink, found objects, thread, and more. Ellenina accepts commission work.

My art life as it intersects with other life. Diversions and directions over time. Occasional pithy comments, lots of bizarre links, and, of course, a few pictures of my dog.
