Bull Terrier Ring

As anybody will tell you, dogs are truly man’s best friend. You can pretty much divide the world into two classes of people – dog people and cat people. While some people are impressed by the self-cleaning powers of a cat and a feline’s fussy nature, others just can’t resist the affection of a dog. Sure dogs require more work to take care of – regular walks, occasional carnage at home, but it’s all worth it when you come home from a long day at work and your dog stares lovingly into your eyes.

Of course, when it comes to what type of dog you like the best, there are all kinds of answers. The type of dog that you are drawn to tend to reflect your personality. Many people find Chihuahuas irresistible and this shows that they are a person that loves cuteness. Others find the reckless energy and wild mane of a husky to be their thing. One of the most popular types of dog today is the bull terrier and this is a ring that connects bull terrier lovers with each other.

English Bull Terrier

The English bull terrier has its genesis in the nineteenth century where it was created from breeding an Old English Bulldog and an Old English Terrier together. This new breed of dog that was known as the Bull and Terrier would split further into two branches around 1860: pure white bull terrier and its other colored forms. While bull terriers were initially bred as fighting dogs, their beautiful appearance would eventually lead to the bull terrier’s popularization as a show dog.

The english bull terrier is renowned for its unique combination of strength and intelligence. Bull Terriers tend to be muscular and have short but dense coat of hair. What distinguishes english bull terriers from other dogs are its peculiar egg shaped heads. When you look at a bull terrier from the front, the top of their heads appear to be almost flat. Their muzzle slopes at an almost royal angle where it ends at the nose. Their unique features don’t just stop at the shape of their heads. The English Bull Terrier is the only recognized dog breed to have triangular eyes that are also small and close to each other. Their round bodies and robust shoulders make the English Bull Terrier one of the most beautiful dogs in the world. The English Bull Terrier has been popularized in the iconic Spud McKenzie that graced Budweiser’s advertising campaign for decades. An English Bull Terrier/Great Dane mix also popped up on the cover of several record covers for pop-rock icon, Rick Springfield.

Also known as the gladiator of the canine race, an english bull terrier tend to be between 16 and 22 inches in height. English bull terriers also tend to weigh between 35 and 80 pounds, although there are some rare exceptions to this. Renowned for their friendly nature, an english bull terrier is not recommended for first-time owners. This is because English Bull Terriers are known for being stubborn and their determined demeanor can be intimidating for some dog owners. However, under the right dog owner, an English Bull Terrier is the ideal dog. They are excellent dogs to have around people and love being in the company of people. Although they can be a bit high maintenance, if you are able to give an English bull terrier the proper physical and mental ability then they are perfectly peaceful dogs.

One of the biggest issues that pet owners have about English Bull Terriers is whether they are compatible with children. After all, the last thing that a parent wants to deal with is a major conflict between a dog and their children. However, english bull terriers are well regarded for their ability to act well with children. Their playful demeanor is a great joy for kids and is a great way for parents to get some rest from playing with their kids. Additionally, an English Bull Terrier is well known for being particularly protective of children that are with them. However, it is important to note that English Bull Terriers are very strong and sometimes they can cause inadvertent injury to kids while they are playing. Still if you are unsure of how an English Bull Terrier will act with your children, your fears will be laid to rest by the reports given by the American Temperament Test Society. This not for profit organization awarded an english bull terrier a pass rate of 91.5% in its temperament testing, a ten percent higher rate than the average temperament rate for other dog breeds.

The average lifespan of an English Bull Terrier is between 10 and 14 years of age. The english bull terrier is regarded as one of the healthiest breeds of dog. When you are young, English bull terriers are susceptible to deafness and it is recommended that they are taken for regular checkups. Additionally, english bull terriers are susceptible to skin allergies but this can be prevented by keeping the dog away from potential contacts to insects. Other common ailments that an English bull terrier is susceptible to include obsessive compulsive disorder and umbilical hernia and acne. Additionally, English Bull Terriers are susceptible to obesity due to their greedy nature. It is up to the owner to maintain an excellent balance of exercise and food for the english bull terrier.

Conclusion

Bull terriers tend to be one of the most misunderstood dogs today. People are polarized with some claiming that these dogs are menaces to society while others swear by them as the most gentle, obedient dogs.
