RING DESCRIPTION: The Muslimahs Speak Up! webring is a ring of Muslim women who defy stereotypes, speak for themselves, and are not apologizing for Islam. We can and do speak for ourselves and do not need anyone else to tell us what our goals, needs, and desires are. We know our Islamically granted rights, and we know how to speak up against oppression against ourselves and others by any power structure.

PRAXIS. this is a political and personal (because the personal is political) blog from me--a nerdy black muslimah and hijabi with an inclination toward chuck taylor high tops, punk rock, sushi, afrofuturism, latin american literature, public transportation and experimental photography projects. this blog is my urgent as well as necessary intervention and interruption of dominant narratives and discourses. this blog is in conversation with my identities as a muslim woman of color from a working-class california community, but does not speak from these subjectivities from a dangerous essentialism. i am a nomadic artist/writer/radical educator who dreams in technicolor and prose, uses acerbic sarcasm to her advantage and in all my 5\'1 glory loves to fight--with her words and art.
