RING DESCRIPTION: My-diet blog is a community of like minded people who blog about their trials, struggles and hopefully success with trying to lose weight, stay healthy and fit.
Sometimes you can feel very alone and frustrated on the journey to loose weight. On a bad day, an encouraging word or guidance from someone going through the same thing can be just what you need.
That is why I started “my-dietblog”. It is more than a web-ring, it is a community for support, information and guidance as well as a place to find resources about health, fitness and diet.

Jamie's Weight Loss JourneyThis is my blog about my daily life now that I am no longer super morbidly obese. I did not have gastric bypass and I did not start on a fad diet plan. I am just a normal person who decided after a health scare that I needed to get my health back. In June 2005 I had a scare with my blood pressure that really got my attention. I started July 1, 2005 doing what I had to do in order to gain my health and lose my weight. I started at 330 pounds but at one point my weight was probably more like 350. I asked the Lord to help me lose my weight. I knew I had to get real and to stop losing 5-25 pounds and then gaining back more than that. I basically started researching weight loss and came up with a plan that I knew I could live with the rest of my life. I knew that I had to change my eating habits and start moving! I started eating six small meals each day that were high in protein and fiber. I still eat that way and have found that it keeps me feeling full all the time. I started moving by walking a few steps a day and worked my way to walking 3 miles every morning. Once I was able to do that I decided to join the local YMCA in order to really tone and increase my cardio. Now, 18 months later I have lost the weight, I wear a size 6, and I feel great!!! Diet, Cooking, and ExerciseA former chef chronicles his journey to lose weight and reduce blood pressure with exercise, recipe modification, and dieting, Low fat, low sodium dieting may seem antithetical, one or the other, but not both. I’ve lowered my fat, salt, and calories. I decided to see whether my experience as a night chef in a restaurant-the job that paid my way through undergraduate school-and my lifelong love of cooking could be pressed into service for weight loss and blood pressure reduction.

This journal is part of my program to change how I live so that I can look better, feel better, and hopefully live a little longer. Feel free to watch my progress, provide some feedback and insight, and learn from my experiences...

I'll keep you posted on what I'm doing, recipes I'm using, my exercise plan, and how I'm handling life without foie gras.
