Weight Loss Pills

Are you tired of looking at your mirror and mentally cutting off those extra pounds?  If you are, you may find that right now is the perfect time to start losing some weight.  However, weight loss isn’t one of the easiest things to achieve.  For this reason, more and more people are turning to weight loss pills as the right solution.

So, are weight loss pills effective?  The answer is yes and no.  In certain instances of morbid obesity, weight loss pills are needed to help spur weight loss and reduce the risk of serious medical conditions.  However, weight loss pills are very potent and should only be used with a doctor’s approval.

There are two main types of diet pills that we will examine.  Prescription diet pills are pills that are prescribed by medical practitioners and are intended to be used for only medical purposes.  If you are looking to shed a few pounds so you can fit into your old jeans, then you should not consider using prescription diet pills.  These diet pills like Meridia, Tenuate, Adipex, Bontril, Didrex, Xenical, and Phentermine are usually only given to people who suffer from serious cases of obesity.

The most popular type of diet pills are known as weight loss supplements or over the counter diet pills.  Unlike prescription diet pills, this segment of diet pills are viewed as food supplements.  They have not been tested by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) so they have not been approved by the medical industry for safety.  In many cases, these over the counter diet pills do work but they often contain powerful amphetamines that can cause serious side effects.  These type of diet pills should be used with caution or should be avoided.

As the over the counter diet pill industry continues to grow, they are developing new types of diet pills that directly affect your brain’s ability to judge your appetite.  These over the counter diet pills have been associated with such medical conditions as: depression, fever, hair loss, heart damage, impotence, and raised blood pressure.

Other people turn to herbal diet pills that claim to contain natural ingredients.  However, in many cases this description of being a herbal remedy doesn’t mean that it’s true or that these herbal diet pills work.  In some cases, herbal diet pills are known to produce the same side effects as over the counter diet pills.

Diet pills are a tricky subject.  Although they are known to work, they should generally only be used in cases of morbid obesity.  Your doctor should approve of your decision to take diet pills, because in cases where you are taking them for cosmetic reasons, it can lead to serious health problems in the future.  This is of course the last thing you want to see happen!
