Sex and Dating: Sticky

Sex and dating can go one of two ways; it can be incredible and make you feel like you’re on cloud nine or it could go to the complete opposite side of the spectrum and make you feel like an absolute fool. All in all; it’s not really something to be taken lightly, unless of course you’re dating casually and strictly for the sex in which case you’ve pretty much got it made!

Sex doesn’t have to make dating complicated but it definitely will take things to a whole new level and being ready for that is key. How do you get ready? Well first you need to make a point to think clearly about it even when all of the blood from your brain has rushed to your nether regions (as is common during the throes of new love). It can be easy…real easy…oh sooooo easy, to get caught up in all the raging hormones and excitement of it all and jump into bed on a whim, but you need to resist that temptation no matter how hard and stop yourself before you do something that will leave you feeling confused as all heck the morning after—and you know it will. If you’re not ready for the whole shift in dynamics that happen after sex, then you shouldn’t be doing it.

Another reason for holding your horses on the sex thing is to see if they’re even worthy of enjoying that wonderland of a body of yours! Like I said before; if you’re looking for a no-strings sort of deal, then by all means, get in there and be safe while you have your fun, but if you want to be with someone for the long haul, you need to make sure that they’re worthy and make sure that they KNOW that you’re worth it and by ‘it’ I mean the wait. How long you wait is up to you, but just remember that all good things are worth waiting for.

Now for the part that everyone hates talking about; safe sex. Yes, that is a biggy when it comes to sex and dating and definitely a good one for taking a cold shower and waiting it out a little longer. You need to be clear about who you’re sleeping with and you also need to take at least a little time before hopping into bed with a new mate so that you can have the safe sex chat. There should be no question as to the use of condoms when you’re having sex with someone new, but surprisingly enough, far too many people still give into the heat of the moment and find themselves having had unprotected sex before they knew it! This is not the time to have an ‘oops’ moment! You should also remember that condoms will not protect you from everything. Take Hepatitis for instance; you can get that from kissing or sharing a glass! How often do you think about that before sharing a kiss with a date? Really knowing who you’re dealing with is a MUST and that’s not something that happens in the course of a date or two.

If for no other reason at all, at least let your health and safety be your voice of reason when it comes to sex and dating.
