Open Your Eyes to A Computer Date

Do you laugh when someone refers to having been on a ‘computer date’? Chances are that you’re laughing because you just don’t understand how it works or have no clue as to how common and, well…normal it really is these days. If you’re single then you’ve probably wondered at one point or another why it seems so hard to meet someone or maybe complained about what little time you have to devote to meeting people. It’s for these reasons that computer dating has become so popular; because we just don’t have the time to be at a pick-up joint every night and it IS hard to meet someone great.

Let’s clear something else up; the term ‘computer date’ doesn’t quite mean having an actual date via the computer. It’s not the date equivalent of cyber sex! It just refers to going out on a date with someone you met online whether through a dating site, personals ad or even chat room. Hopefully that has cleared up some of your misconceptions enough to open your mind up a little to the idea of at least considering an online date or at least hearing me out about why you should give it a shot.

Maybe we need to clear up another common misconception about those who opt to computer date; for instance the notion that only pathetic or lonely or hideously ugly people use online dating to meet others. This is so NOT true! All kinds of men and women of all shapes, sizes, backgrounds and all that can be found using computer dating to meet others. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder anyway, but I can assure you that whatever it is that you find attractive; you WILL find on a dating site. Whether or not they’ll be interested in you is another story, but you certainly can find them there! And why would someone who is so attractive and so great be looking for a computer date you ask? For the same reasons that you’re reading this article; because they want to meet someone wonderful and don’t always have the time to invest into hitting the bars in search of their prince/princess and maybe even because they’re sick of the same old approach and ready to try something new.

The idea of going on a computer date or two may seem unusual for someone who has never tried it or who doesn’t know a whole lot about it, but it really isn’t all that different from meeting someone in a bar or a café really. If you were in a crowded bar you would be met with dozens of faces, scope the crowd and then maybe find a couple that you found attractive. You’d then try to get up the nerve to start a conversation with them, maybe get to know them a little and then ask them out. With online dating you would do the same only the bar would be a website and the faces would be in pictures; nicely lined up with a little bit of information about that person. You would see one that interests you, and then make contact, see if there was any sort of common ground and then you’d ask them out for a date. See! No difference except it’s a lot easier and more convenient!
