Dictionary
Oh my god, you are a terrible speller and you need to impress someone who really cares about proper spelling. Or maybe you just think it’s about time to scrabbled together a coherent sentence. Whichever the reason, you need a dictionary and you need one fast. This prompts the question, where can I get a dictionary that will help me become a better person.
Well there are a lot of answers to that question, and I will endeavor to give you a few of them. At least the most popular ones anyway.
Online Dictionary
The online dictionary is quickly becoming the most popular way for people to stop embarrassing themselves with their ignorance of the basic rules of language. In a few seconds you can hop online and consult a dictionary that doesn’t even care if you know how the word is spelled. If you throw a guess in the search engine it will hand you a multitude of possible matches, and from there you can find the one you think is right…and if you are still not sure there are definitions and synonyms just waiting there to help you out. It is the magic of the age of technology!
Websters Dictionary
I’m not sure whom Webster is (unless it is that adorable half-man from television) but he really knew how to spell. Websters is the most popular dictionary on paper these days, and even better they are on the vanguard of which new words are actually included into our lexicon each year. This is a great responsibility. I’m tired of the spellchecker on my computer not accepting fo shizzle.
Spanish Dictionary
A Spanish dictionary will help you out a great deal if you are trevalling overseas. You’ll probably hear several phrases again and again, and with one of these handy books, you’ll be able to figure out that they are saying: “Get out of our country you war mongering American jerk.” And even better you’ll be able to say: “Give me a break, without us you’d all be learning Russian and working depressing jobs all day.” The Spanish dictionary is good.
Dictionary Software
In case the online dictionary wasn’t enough for you, you can install your own dictionary software so you can customize your own lexicon. Fo shizzle might not be a real word, but at least your spell checker won’t remind you with that annoying little red zigzag thing.
Medical Dictionary
Oh crap you’re bleeding, better get the medical dictionary. Jokes aside, a medical dictionary is a great tool, not so much for self-diagnosis, but for understanding your diagnosis better. Plus they are available online and in print.
Dream Dictionary
This handy little bedside guide will help you interpret your dreams when you wake up in the morning. For instance, if you are a man and you have a dream about a lizard, that little guy represents your penis…and the fact that you aren’t using it to its full potential.
French Dictionary
Not quite as popular as it once was. hide
