I think it is always good for kids to have animals in the house, might be an idea to start off with something smaller though like a rabbit unless you want to look after it as kids will loose interest in a dog or cat really quickly.

I think 3 years old would be fine, my eldest had a dog when she was 3 and she grew up with her dog and it was nice because the dog was also protecting her from her unwanted friends.

We started at 2 with a cat then a dog nad birds later on when they got ot pick their own.

Any age is a good age. It allows them to learn to respect and love other creatures, and respect that they need to be taken care of. You can teach them all sorts of things through a pet. But, you have to make sure to understand that the pet is ultimately your responsibility. Your kids are young and may not be able to take care of them in all the ways they need to be, but they can definitely learn and help. :)

I think with toddlers around when has to be little careful, but once the kids start understanding does and don't you can introduce a pet to your family.

I think even now it is good to get them a dog or a cat. I prefer a dog. But get the puppy and not a dog. Both of them will grow with each other. It will be good to see them. Your kids will have a good entertainment with them.

Any age as you will always have to help out and make up for waht the kids forget.

I would have them grow up with animals, we always did and it was nice. It was a responsibility.

We got my son his first pet when he was two and my daughter has been around animals since birth. They both love them and we haven't had any problems.

dogs and cats are to WAY two different animals. fr a youngster, a cat would be more like it cause there more jental. so about age 2 for cats. how ever, 4 an 8 year old or so, a dog would be best cause they want to play the most(the kid not the dog) and a dog wants to play badly too. while a cat would want to just lay in he sun, and get pet all the time. how ever, your the parent, so what ever age u think is best i would go with that.
