  • Equestrian Olympics: Expressing A Love for Horses

Horses were once and always treated as one among the many physically strong animals known to human history. During the past years of war, the picture of Roman warriors riding horses always showed a considerable level of strength and courage among the said individuals. Long after the war, the look of a person being able to control the strength of a horse through riding its back has continuously taken a great attention from the different human generations.

It was only during the 1900 Olympic games in France that equestrian has been accepted as an international Olympic game that is treated with great grace and rhythm between the horse and the rider. Back then, horse riding has simply been viewed as a special hobby among the elite families. As horses were not that easy to gain since they were expensive to buy as well as hard to take care of, equestrian was believed to attract only those who could afford to maintain a ranch.

Later on though, as the fondness over horses develops through the years and equestrian games has been considered as part of prestigious international gaming events such as that of the Olympics, the number of appreciators of the game began to increase. From purely elite players, now, even regular gamers who are sponsored by several companies and organizations could now train to become expert in the game and be able to play along with others from the international levels.

    Polo versus Vaulting Equestrian Games

Polo games involve a team of equestrians of at least four members that compete against each other making at least eight players on the field during the game. During this particular game, the players are expected to hit an outdoor polo ball towards a certain goal. With the utilization of rhythm and cooperation between the rider and the horse, this game attracts the audience in watching how the connection between the rider and its horse becomes a great matter to be waited upon during every phase of the game.

On the other hand, vaulting involves both individual and team-based game. Both types actually involve the need to have a great connection and understanding between the horse and the rider, which obviously gets the attention of every viewer. The wonderful choreography on the movement of the horse and its rider keeps on making the said game interesting and rather a strong picture of rhythmic movement between the primary elements of the event.

The Continuous Growth of Skills Among Present Equestrians

Because of the fact that the equestrian game has taken a great toll of change when it has been approved as part of the Olympics, the said game required further skill from the horse riders. Choreography between the horse and the rider needs to be strongly jived as well as well rehearsed. The connection between the said elements needs to be continuously strengthened as the gaming event nears its schedule. The practice of the rider’s control with the horse does not happen within hours but within months and at times even years of perfect practice. The most important part of this game is the affectionate connection that exists between the rider and its horse that is most obvious before, during and even after the gaming events.
