To explain it as simply as possibly, it is a health practice that involves pressing and massaging different parts of the feet in order to achieve relief in other parts of the body that are experiencing pain or suffering from a condition. The practice all has to do with the pressure points found in the feet that are believed to connect to other parts of the body through the central nervous system. One of the most interesting things about reflexologists is that they believe that they themselves do not heal patients but rather the patients body heals itself because of the practice enables them to get a persons body back to the way it’s supposed to be which in turn promotes healing. There are several theories as to how this works, yet no really knows for sure which, if any of the theories is accurate. Regardless off how or why it works, reflexology is something that has been practiced for centuries and has proven to provide relief.

Some of the positive effects of this practice include things such as lowered stress levels, a stronger immune system, lowered blood pressure, improved circulation and the prevention of some other illnesses. These are just a small few of the benefits actually! It is also used to treat several conditions that most people count on conventional medicine for, such as, arthritis, injuries, back pain, sleep disorders, issues caused by hormonal imbalances and more. This is not to say that you should kiss your doctor goodbye or anything, but it certainly is a safe and natural alterative to other treatments and one that is offered almost everywhere nowadays.

There are even some reflexology techniques that can be self-administered so you can enjoy the benefits anytime! If trying it on yourself or someone else is what you’re after, then there are a couple of ways to learn these techniques; either by a professional or using the help of a reflexology chart. These charts offer clear and easy to understand diagrams that show you the various pressure points along with a brief explanation as to how to do it and what other body parts or conditions it will help you with.     Even if you’ve never believed in alternative therapies, trying out reflexology could leave you very pleasantly surprised and feeling better than ever. It certainly couldn’t hurt!
