Using Mailing Lists

Mailing lists are actually the lists which are compiled with the names and addresses which are generally used in the web based business. These names and email addresses are generally collected through he promotional campaigns of the website. Whenever you open some of the website you most of the time are presented to some of the forms. These forms do actually ask you if you would like to receive email newsletters from that specific website. Incase you fill in the form your name and address is added to the mailing list of that specific website.

These mailing lists are preserved in to the documents of the organizations and individuals who are involved in the business at the website. Generally these mailing lists are used for sending out email lists to the multiple recipients or more precisely to multiple subscribers. Most of the time the term “Mailing list” is used for referring to the people who have subscribed for some specific material to be mailed to them, so it could also be named as “subscriber’s list”.

There are two main kinds of the mailing lists:

-         Mailing List

-         Safe List

Mailing list is a sort of list which is used to sent out the mails to those who have subscribed for these mails, the content of the mails are consistent over newsletters, advertising content, e-zines or periodicals. Electronic mailing list is the more precise term for such mailing lists.

The other sort of mailing list is “Safe List”. This sort of mailing list is used by an individual to post his own items to the members of the list.

Mailing lists are used periodically and they need to be refreshed time and again. It happens most of the time that lists get much corrupt addresses, why does they happen? The reason being people changing their addresses and also the request for un-doing the subscription. This process of cleaning up and refreshing the mailing list is known as “list washing”. While the organizations have their mailing lists washed they remove out the corrupt or no more responding addresses out.

In the process of the list washing special cares are taken, as the mailing list is collected after much laborious activities so, the owner of the list find it difficult to get members of the list removed. Mailing lists at each interval of the list washing must be divided in to three or more parts.

1: First list must consist, most active members.

2: Members with less activity

3: Dead members of you mailing list.

After categorizing them they need to be treated.

Lest! Some one is involved with these mailing lists it is suggested to keep refreshing his mailing list time to time. This will help him remove out dead members; steps could be taken to making less active or hibernating members, active ones! This refreshing activity would also save him from getting himself in to the “Blacklist”, one dedicated to SPAMMERS! As non-active members, may compliant as SPAM against you!
