  • GMC – World’s Largest Automaker

Best known for their line of trucks, GMC (General Motors Corporation) has been making larger commercial and personal use vehicles since 1909. Their product line includes some of the best known and bestselling pick up trucks around, such as the Canyon and the Sierra. With such a respected reputation when it comes to power, it’s no surprise that their product line also includes a wide range of SUVs such as the Acadia, the Envoy and the new Terrain. The Jimmy remains one of the best known SUVs around even though they stopped production of the Jimmy back in 2005. GMC also makes a broad range of heavy duty and medium duty trucks. And some fun trivia, they also used to manufacture transit buses and school buses, motor homes and even fire trucks!

A key point that many forget about GMC is all of the brands that they own. Some of the world’s best known and coveted car brands belong to GMC, including: Cadillac, Buick, Chevy, Pontiac, Saab, Saturn, HUMMER and more.

It’s no surprise that General Motors is listed as the world’s largest automaker.  As well as being a popular choice in trucks, GMC has a proud heritage and a large following of people who swear by GM products. In homage to their incredible history they’ve built the GM Heritage Center located in Sterling Heights Michigan. The centre which showcases their history with 200 of their vehicles displayed in a large showroom as well as an overwhelming number of paper, artifacts and proof of their work over the years. Strangely enough though, this center is not actually open to the public! It can be booked for events and is often used for GM functions.

In order to satisfy their large fan base they’ve created a number of products geared for the car aficionado including things like T-shirts and other apparel as well as collectors items like recreations of their coveted neon signs that were used in their dealerships in the forties and fifties. And still on the subject of their fan base; there are hundreds of fan clubs and sites for those who swear by GMC vehicles. Turns out that owning a GMC or Chevy isn’t just about driving but rather a proud lifestyle too!

Finally, one of GM’s other innovations includes the creation of OnStar, the in-vehicle safety and security system. OnStar is an in-car panel that consists of 3 buttons that offer 24 hour access to emergency assistance. Their services include: Roadside Assistance, AccidentAssist, CrisisAssist, Remote Door Unlock, Ride Assist, Remote Horn and Lights and much more. Basically, anything that could possibly be needed while driving is accessible to you via that tiny easy to use panel that also offers hands-free communication. Is there anything it can’t do?? This revolutionary system has already proven to save lives and is standard in all GM cars now. It’s no wonder that they are one of the best respected names by drivers. They got your back in every way a car should and much more.
